Closely associated to the late 19th-century culture and art, this old fishing town still preserves many of the sites, buildings and palaces that turned it into a pioneer tourist resort in Spain. The first tourist hotel was built there in 1916. In recent times, Sitges has made a substantial effort to enhance its tourist facilities, modernizing and expanding its offer. Its hotels, campings, appartment-houses, the Aiguadolç Pleasure Harbour, the golf course and a large number of shops, provide a wide range of entertainment, relax, culture and sport opportunities.
